London's burning

Before May half term, Turtle, Swordfish and Seahorse classes built Tudor houses from boxes. We set them out on the field as if they were London in 1666. We set one of them alight and watched how quickly the fire spread. We learnt a lot about how the Great Fire of London spread.

Dinosaur museum

Thank you to all the parents who came to our dinosaur museum in Seahorse class. In groups of 3 we 'curated' a section of the museum and had lots of fun putting together our displays. With our handwritten guide books, we gave tours of the museum to our parents, siblings, grandparents and Mrs Schofield.

Year 5 games

Seahorse class were really lucky to be taught some games by Dolphin class at the end of last term. Year 5 had invented the games and were brilliant at teaching them to us. We had lots of fun.

Sport Relief Day

We have had a fabulous Sport relief day. We all wore our PE and sports kits for the day and took part in a range of activities including gymnastics, dance led by Year 6 pupils, yoga and team games, as well as learning about healthy eating. We raised lots of money for Sport Relief in the process so well done everyone.

Scootsmart

On 9th March, 22 of our Year 2 pupils took part in a Scoot smart course. They learned how to stay safe on and control their scooters.

Dinosaurs!

We have had a lot of fun with our dinosaur topic this term. We've hatched dinosaur eggs, dug for dinosaurs, found dinosaur footprints and done lots of research about types of dinosaurs.

World Book Day

We had a great World Book Day. Thanks for all your wonderful costumes. We had everyone from Dennis the Menace, to the Christmasaurus, from Princesses to Wizards and witches. The teachers joined in too with the Queen of Hearts, Hermione Grainger, Miss Tiggywinkle and Cruella De Ville joining Dorothy, The Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West for the day.

Parent helpers

We always welcome parent helpers into school, especially to help hear readers. If you have an hour to spare each week, or even every other week, please do let your child's teacher know. Thank you.

Open Class Events

We are looking forward to seeing you for our open class afternoons, which will be 16th March for Turtles, 23rd March for Swordfish and 20th April for Seahorses.

Show and Tell

In Turtle Class, Show and Tell will be on Friday.

In Swordfish class the show and tell rota has been handed out. Watch out in the class window for this week's group.

In Seahorse class show and tell is on a Monday. A rota of which children will do show and tell each week has been handed out.

PE days

Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school at the start of the half term. We will keep PE kits in school until they need washing! Please label everything clearly. Children in KS1 will sometimes do PE outside, and therefore need suitable footwear and tracksuit bottoms in colder weather.

Duxford

On 27th June, Year 1 and 2 had a great trip to Duxford Imperial War Museum to look at different forms of transport. We saw old and new planes and even got to go on board a couple. We enjoyed seeing planes taking off and experimenting with the different models in Airspace. The weather was perfect and we had a wonderful day.
