Homework

In Turtle Class, spellings are given on a Monday and tested on the following Monday. Maths homework will be given on a Friday, to be returned by the following Wednesday. This will sometimes be a sheet, but other times will be an activity from Education City. Topic homework from the homework menu can be found on the termly curriculum newsletter.

In Seahorse Class, spellings are given on a Friday and tested the following Thursday. This term children will also be asked to write sentences using some of their spelling words each week. Maths homework will be given on a Wednesday to be returned by the following Monday. Topic homework from the homework menu can be found on the termly curriculum newsletter.

PE days

Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school at the start of the half term. We will keep PE kits in school until they need washing! Please label everything clearly. Children in KS1 will sometimes do PE outside, and therefore need suitable footwear and tracksuit bottoms in colder weather.

Show and Tell

In Turtle Class, Show and Tell will be on Friday. The rota is as follows:

15th September Squares
22nd September Rectangles
29th September Triangles
6th October Hexagons

In Seahorse class show and tell is on a Monday. A rota of which children will do show and tell each week has been handed out. This term we are asking children to share their favourite books with the class.

Open Class Events

We are looking forward to seeing you for our open class afternoons, which will be Friday 27th January for Turtle class and Friday 3rd February for Seahorse class, both at 2.30pm.

Parent helpers

We always welcome parent helpers into school, especially to help hear readers. If you have an hour to spare each week, or even every other week, please do let your child's teacher know. Thank you.

Explorer Wow day

Turtles and Seahorses started the term off with a fun Explorers day. We packed rucksacks, handled space rocks, built new lands, drew maps, told stories in a wigwam and found out about different explorers. It was a great introduction to our new topic.

Polar clothing

Key stage 1 have had an exciting time trying on vintage and modern polar clothing as part of our Explorers topic. We borrowed handling collections from the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge and had fun comparing the clothing.
