EYFS curriculum

Each term our units are carefully planned to ensure all of the objectives for Reception are taught whilst still giving children the opportunities to learn and explore through their interests.

How to support your child at home

In EYFS we send a weekly update on what we have been doing during the week across the curriculum. This will also include ideas of how you could support your child at home and different ideas of tasks/games you may like to try at home.

Reading:

Children will begin to bring reading books home in the autumn term once they have demonstrated confident word blending skills in phonics lessons. Prior to this we will be sending home sounds the children are learning for you to practice at home.

In addition to this your child will bring home a library book each week. Here we will be encouraging the children to explore a broad range of story books which they will select one of to bring home. Please read this book at home with your child, expect your child to want to share this book with you multiple times during the time they have it as repetition of books is a key step in children developing a love of reading and drawing on the

Phonics:

As well as sending sound cards home and phonetically decodable books (when children are ready for them). We will be providing links to online videos on the Read Write Inc virtual classroom for you to share with your child to consolidate their learning.
